Review of Cartagena’s Totumo Mud Volcano tour, with hotel pickup, floating mud baths, local services, practical tips, costs, and safety advice.

“I would say no words - haha but here goes. First , the bus was15 minutes late and we waited in the heat. Next, our bus was over booked so 4 people had to go in someone’s car. We never saw them again. The bus was filthy, with barely any air. We had to stop for gas on the way out and stop for air in tires on way back. Bottom step of the bus was plywood! The bath (singular) is high up an uneven and steep set of stairs with rickety railings made of old pieces of wood with nails showing. The mangrove you rinse in is warm, but…”

“Very organized. We left valuables and money in the large van. This allowed us to dish out the tip(s) upon departure. So much more convenient this way. The mud is weightless and you can’t reach the bottom, but it’s impossible to sink below your chest.”

Review of Cartagena’s El Totumo mud volcano tour, with practical advice on transport, tipping, changing, crowding, and overall value.

“I booked this tour because the activities included Mud Volcano, Pink sea and Indigena's town. However upon pick up we were advise there would only be Mud Volcano. We asked why isnt the pink sea or the nearby indigena town available. They said the season for the pink sea has passed. Okay understandable that we cannot control nature, but a town is always there. Despite the false advertisement, the tour guide Charlie was very nice. I couldnt stay mad at him, because he was just trying to do this job. Whoever that was managing the tour company should be ashamed of herself for misleading people to thinking they are partaking…”

Review of Cartagena’s Totumo mud volcano, Galerazamba salt flats, lunch, and beach club, with honest advice on transport, tipping, and value.

“My experience of lodotherapy at the Totumo Volcano was both relaxing and unique. Being covered in the warm volcanic mud was a fun and calming experience, and I learned about its supposed health and skin benefits. After rinsing off in the nearby lake, I felt refreshed and rejuvenated. The visit to Galerazamba was equally memorable, especially seeing the beautiful pink salt flats, which were breathtaking and unlike anything I had seen before. Overall, the trip was enjoyable, educational, and truly unforgettable.”

Review of Cartagena’s Mud Volcano and Pink Sea tour, with salt flats, mud bath, beach lunch, transport, tips, and honest value advice.

“Half of this excursion needs more work. The tour of Galerazamba museum is mediocre at best. The pink sea isnt pink anymore because of global warming so it wasnt much of a thrill. The mud volcano is AMAZING. Stairs are steep but the mud at the top was weirdly relaxing and a fun time. Please bring tip money and break it down because the vendors dont get any funds if you dont hand it directly to them.”

Review of Cartagena’s Mud Volcano and Palenque tour, with early mud bathing, local food, music, history, costs, tips, and practical advice.

“I would give this 10 stars if I could. Miguel had the absolute best itinerary to make sure we experienced the mud volcano without the crowds. He explained everything very thoroughly. As we went through Palenque, it was clear that he was loved and respected by everyone in the community. I also appreciate that he encouraged us to support the local economy. Every stop felt special as we sampled, traditional medicine, food, music, and dance. This is a really special place and it deserves to be seen with a guide as fantastic as Miguel.”
